Since 1st January 2010, MOM announced that the minimum insurance coverage required for employer to purchase for their employees (Work Permit & S Pass holders) is S$15,000 per year. And with effect from 31st March 2023, MOM announced that the minimum insurance coverage has increased from S$15,000 to S$60,000 per year. This is to help employers from having to bear the large unexpected medical bills incurred by their employees.
EQ Insurance is acting as a guarantor by providing a Letter of Guarantee to MOM on behalf of the employer so that they can apply for a foreign domestic maid without paying S$5,000 cash upfront to MOM. In the event that either employer or foreign domestic maid has breached the MOM's rules and conditions, MOM will call up the bond from EQI which we will in turn recover from you.
This optional cover limits your S$5,000 bond liability to S$250 if the breach of the bond is not due to your negligence or fault. It is an optional cover offered to you upon application. Every foreign domestic maid employer in Singapore has to place S$5,000 as a deposit with MOM. If the foreign domestic maid absconds or gets pregnant, for example, the employer may lose the entire sum or the bond will be called up. However, if you take up this optional cover, you will be able to limit your liability to only S$250.
Yes, you can still purchase this optional cover within 30 days from the policy effective date but your liability increases to S$500 instead of S$250.
You are to borne 25% co-payment of the eligible claim amount exceeding the first-dollar cover of S$15,000. However, we do offer an optional cover (at an additional premium) for the waiver of the co-payment by you.
New maid – Select the date your domestic maid will arrive in Singapore or a date before she arrives (provided it is not any date earlier than 14 days from today).
Transferred maid – Select the date as shown on the In-principal Transfer Work Permit Approval issued to you by the MOM.
Renewal maid – Make reference to the Notification of Foreign Domestic Work Pass Renewal letter from the MOM. Select the next day after the Work Permit expiry date as shown. Eg. Your domestic maid WP will expire on 20 Feb 2023, select 21 Feb 2023.
For every insurance and bond, there will be an additional 2 months cover as this is a requirement by MOM. It is a precaution that in any event or reason the foreign domestic maid overstays in Singapore after her work permit expired, she is still covered under the insurance. EQ will charge a premium based on a 12 or 24 months period, no additional premium charged for the extra 2 months.
MOM will only issue a Work Permit that will expire one month before the passport expires.
Medical expenses are for accidents only and you can only claim for out-patient treatments. For example, if your foreign domestic maid accidentally cuts her hand and is treated as an out-patient whilst receiving a few sitches. The Hospital and Surgical expenses covers both accidents and illnesses and expenses have to be incurred as an inpatient. E.g. maid is admitted to hospital for day surgery. However, if illness is a pre-existing condition, then it is not claimable.
EQ MaidSafe doesn’t include Covid-19 cover. However, if you wish for your foreign domestic maid to be covered, we do offer an optional extension cover at an additional premium charged upon your application.
