A. Injury to any parties

If you're involved in a motor accident in Malaysia, here are the key steps you should take:

 

  1. Ensure Safety First
    Move to a safe location if possible. Turn on your hazard lights to alert other drivers of the accident. If anyone is injured, call for emergency medical assistance (dial 999 in Malaysia).

 

  1. Check for Injuries
    Check yourself, passengers, and others involved in the accident for injuries. If needed, seek medical help immediately.

 

  1. Call the Police
    If there are injuries or significant damage, call the local police to report the accident.

 

  1. Exchange Information
    Exchange personal and vehicle details with the other driver(s), including:
  • Name, address, phone number
  • Insurance details (company and policy number)
  • Vehicle registration number
  • Driver's license number

 

  1. Do Not Admit Fault
    Avoid admitting fault or making statements that could be interpreted as such. Stick to the facts when discussing the accident.

 

  1. Take Photos
    Take clear photos of the accident scene, vehicle damage, any visible injuries, and any relevant road conditions or signs. This evidence will be helpful for insurance claims or legal matters.

 

  1. Contact Your Insurance Provider

  1. File an Accident Report with Malaysian Authorities
    However the severity of the accident, you must file a report with the nearest police station.

In Malaysia, the police will provide an accident report that you will need for insurance purposes and legal processes. Obtain a copy of the police report.

To get ready the following:

  • Policyholder’s NRIC
  • Driver’s NRIC & Driving License
  • Certificate of Insurance
  • Company Stamp (if vehicle is registered under a company)
  •  Authorization Letter/Email from owner if you are not the owner/policyholder of vehicle
  • Police report (if any)
  • Vehicle (for photo taking)
  • To email the copy of such correspondence to us immediately for our action at motorclaims@eqinsurance.com.sg
  • Do not admit liability and correspond with the Third Party as this may prejudice your rights.
